Platopus Systems Limited ("we", "us", "our") is registered in England and Wales (Company No. 04136660). We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller.
This policy covers the browser extensions we publish, today the Platopus Connect extension for Google Chrome. Our marketing website has its own policy at platopusretail.com/privacy. Data held in your Platopus Retail account is governed by your Platopus Retail service agreement.
Platopus Connect sends your own catering orders from an ordering provider's vendor portal to your Platopus Retail account, so Platopus can produce kitchen tickets, labels, production lists and sales reports for those orders. The first provider is Just Eat for Business. The extension reads the provider's portal using the session you already have in your browser. It never asks for, sees or stores your provider password, and it never changes anything on the provider's site.
Using your signed-in Just Eat for Business session, the extension reads from the vendor portal:
• Your vendor profile (vendor id and name) and your delivery addresses
• Your menus
• Your orders: order number, status, pickup and delivery times, the ordering company's name and delivery contact, delivery instructions, and the items ordered with their prices and allergens
• On individual-choice orders, the first name and surname of each person and the items they chose
Before anything leaves your browser the extension removes what Platopus does not need, including e-mail addresses, staff phone numbers, images, marketing and feedback data.
Your provider password or login cookies. Your browsing on any other site. Anything from pages other than the provider's vendor portal. The extension has no access to other tabs or to your browsing history.
The data is sent only to api.platopusretail.com and stored in your Platopus Retail account. It is used solely to produce kitchen tickets, labels, production lists and reports for your business. For the personal data in your orders, you are the data controller and Platopus Systems Limited is your data processor, acting on your instructions under your service agreement.
We do not sell this data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties other than the hosting providers that run the Platopus Retail service (Amazon Web Services, EU-West region), who process it on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements.
The extension keeps in Chrome's extension storage: the token that pairs the browser to your Platopus Retail account, the time and result of its last check, and fingerprints of orders already sent so unchanged orders are not sent again. It sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
Order data, including the names on individual-choice orders, is kept in your Platopus Retail account for as long as your account retains orders and is deleted with it. Disabling the connector in Platopus Retail revokes the extension's token immediately. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it stored in your browser.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we process it, and complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@platopusretail.com. For the personal data of the people in your orders, requests should go to you as the controller; we will assist you in meeting them.
We will update this page, and the extension's listing in the Chrome Web Store, if what the extension collects changes. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent version.
